80 households entered the poll for the 2007 holiday season indicating that they switched to LED holiday lights.  If direct marketing numbers are a guide,  that could indicate that 800 or more households in the three cities switched to energy efficient LED holiday lights.  That is a lot of people in our communities who were not loosing money while still enjoying the holiday spirit.

Next year  the goal will be to increase the number people who switch to LED holiday lights.

The possible total number of households who could participate in 2007 was:

Los Gatos             11306

Monte Sereno        1236

Saratoga              10330

Why Convert to LED Holiday Lights?

Don’t loose money powering up all those holiday lights around your house.  We have a few stores around our three towns who carry LED Christmas Lights.  Get some now before they run out and help your city win the contest to get the most household switching to LED holiday lights.

Covert you household to LED holiday lights.  You will save money, time and energy.  You will also reduce the amount of CO2 gas that is produced to power those light.  Reducing CO2 gas emissions reduces global warming.

L.E.D. (Light Emitting Diode) lights use about one-tenth the electricity of super bright mini-lights, and as little as one-hundreth that of C7 incandescent lights. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, if all conventional incandescent Christmas lights in the U.S. were replaced with L.E.D. lights, annual energy savings would total 2 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) - enough to power 200,000 homes for a year.

This is data from the University of Florida showing how holiday lighting increases energy consumption.
